Jackie Power started violin at an early age using the Suzuki method and went on to study and graduate from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Distinction. She studied both violin and bassoon throughout University, and has also completed Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music in piano along with extensive training in Music Theory and History. She has played violin with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, and Edmonton Concordia Orchestra, and plays bassoon with The New Edmonton Wind Symphonia. Jackie has been part of orchestras in musicals such as Oliver, Annie, Sound of Music, White Christmas, Oklahoma, Annie Get Your Gun, Wizard of Oz, and many others around the Edmonton area and Sherwood park. She performs as well with the St. Albert Community Orchestra in Paul Kane High School’s musical theatre productions. In the past, she has taught piano, violin and bassoon privately, and has done workshops for beginner bassoonists in both junior high and high schools. She is looking forward to putting her main focus on teaching violin.
